The Louvre’s first exhibition dedicated to fashion, “Louvre Couture: Art and Fashion — Statement Pieces,” welcomed 1.06 million visitors, the most attended show in its history, following the Leonardo da Vinci exhibition in 2019/2020, which reached 1.072 million, running for four months.

The exhibition, which opened on 24 January and closed on Sunday, 24 August 2025, brought together masterpieces from the Louvre's department of decorative arts and notable pieces from the history of contemporary fashion between the 1960s and 2025.

Across the nearly 100,000 square feet occupied by the department, around 100 fashion pieces and accessories loaned by 45 fashion houses and designers told the history of decorative arts, styles, crafts, and ornamentation. The looks on display were by Jacquemus, Marine Serre, Undercover, Vivienne Westwood, Rick Owens, Loewe, Iris Van Herpen, and others.

“The Louvre is essentially couture. I am delighted that these juxtapositions have touched the public’s heart,” said Olivier Gabet, director of the decorative arts department and curator of the event. "The popularity of the show confirms the value of the intersection of disciplines and perspectives, as well as the Louvre’s contemporary presence as a source of inspiration for all creators.”
